This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Munch collects, why, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It covers the Munch mobile app, this website (munchkink.app), and related services. By using Munch you agree to this policy.
Who we are
Munch is a kink & BDSM dating and community app for adults 18 and over. For any privacy question, contact privacy@munchkink.app.
Data we collect
- Account data: email, password (stored hashed, not in plain text), and date of birth (to confirm you are 18+).
- Profile data: photos, bio, interests, roles, and other details you add to your profile.
- Identity verification: if we ask you to verify you're a real adult, we may collect a selfie or ID photo for that check.
- Location: approximate or precise location, used to show you people and munches nearby. You control location sharing in your device and app settings.
- Messages: chat content, processed to enable delivery and to detect abuse and safety violations.
- Device and usage data: device identifiers, push notification tokens, crash logs, and how you interact with the app.
- Payment status: whether you have an active subscription, from the app store you subscribed through — we do not receive your full card number.
How we use your data
- To create and operate your profile, and to show you compatible people, local munches, and events.
- To enable matching, chat, and community features.
- To verify members and keep the community safe: moderation, fraud and abuse prevention, and enforcement of our Terms.
- For customer support.
- To meet legal obligations, including child-safety reporting (see our Child Safety Standards).
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Sensitive data
Information you choose to share on Munch — including your interests, roles, and relationship dynamics — may reveal sensitive details about you. This is processed only with your consent (by choosing to add it to your profile) or where necessary to keep the community safe or meet a legal obligation. You decide what to put on your profile, and you can edit or remove it at any time.
Identity verification imagery
If you complete identity verification, the photo or ID you submit — and any identifiers derived from it — is used only to confirm your identity and detect fraud. The image itself is deleted after verification; we retain only the result (verified or not).
Who we share data with
- Other members: your visible profile is shown to people you match with or who see you on the app, according to your privacy settings.
- Service providers: companies that host our infrastructure, send notifications, or help with content moderation, under contracts that restrict their use of your data to providing that service.
- Law enforcement and child-safety organizations: when legally required, including reports to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). See Child Safety Standards.
- A buyer or successor, if Munch is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — with notice to you.
International data transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA or UK.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile is removed from the platform, and your photos, posts, and messages are permanently deleted. We may retain a limited amount of data where the law requires it or to keep the service safe — see Delete Your Account for exactly what is kept and why.
Your rights and choices
- Access and correction: view and edit your profile data in the app.
- Deletion: delete your account and data at any time — see Delete Your Account.
- Privacy controls: control what you share and who can see it, and block or report other members.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA (California) or the GDPR (EEA/UK), including the right to access, correct, or export your data. Contact privacy@munchkink.app to exercise these rights.
Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and ongoing monitoring to help protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify you as required by law.
Children's privacy
Munch is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we remove it immediately. See our Child Safety Standards.
Changes
